As Thriller Marks

As part of learning how to improve our planning for our thriller trailer, we watched some examples of other AS thriller trailers and following the mark scheme we marked what we thought it would have scored.

The first clip we watched was impressive and followed high marks on the criteria with a mark of 54/60. It included titles appropriately and had a good consistency throughout with the same font and size and also the producers made sure that the titles all had a eligible time (so people could read them). There was also very good sound use with images and editing, especially using contrapuntal sound. The voice over was key in this clip, and it was clear that it was planned what was going to be said as it was very creative. I would consider using this in out final piece as it looked and sounded great. The only thing I would consider not so good was the story line, it wasn't very hooking or engaging. Overall this piece was marked at top grade A.

On the second clip we watched me and my group gave it a score of 36 which is a grate C, However the examiners gave it a mark of 44 which is equivalent to a grade B. We gave it this mark because the start was very good with the sound with the images and the editing, however when the acting and dialogue came along it was as impressive, me and my group understand its not about the acting but it does have a massive affect on the final piece and it doesn't give off the correct feeling.

Altogether we watched 4 As thriller clips and they were all very good and showed a remarkable talent throughout. The whole class had to watch and score these clips, however on some trailers, we all gave the clip a D which is equivalent to 30 marks however the exam board marked it at an A, therefore non of us was correct.

Through watching the As thriller trailers it has allowed me and my group to identify how ours can be made better and what we need to do. For example, we liked the idea of the voice over on one of the clips, and we also have learnt that we need to keep our font sizes and styles the same and keep continuity through our piece. Overall the clips were all very impressive and helped us with ideas and editing skills for our own AS thriller opening.

A-48 - These are the marks from the exam board and I followed these marks too.
